About Kitchen & Butcher
Owners Kylie Balharrie and Michael Kennedy moved to the Yarra Valley back in 2001 and purchased the Healesville Hotel. Over the years the family business has diversified and grown and in 2006 Kitchen and Butcher was created.
Next to the hotel on the sunny retail strip right in the middle of the thriving tourist town of Healesville. The shop itself has housed a butcher since it first opened back in the 1920’s.
K&B as it is known to locals and visitors has been about our passion for great produce, sourced from the bounty of the Yarra Valley, the best of Victoria and further afield. The shop is an inspiring and ever changing larder, customers continually remark on the feel of the shop, the incredible choice and eye-catching displays.
K&B boasts one of the most beautiful copper cheese cabinets which nurtures a carefully selected range of the best local and international cheeses. In 2016 we expanded with a production kitchen to further develop our range of house made meals, catering, handmade + small batch jams, relishes, pickles & preserves, granolas & spiced nuts.
Our Butchery is small & artisan with a focus on sourcing quality local meat from the Yarra Valley and then great Victorian producers. We love the Berkshire ‘Gin Pigs’, our family Ravensbrook Heritage lamb & beef from Smith + Jackson. Our point of difference is that we have a chefs’ approach to meat, with interesting spices, marinades and well-presented cuts.
At K&B we work hard to source and curate a line of goods, always finding new delicious goods that we are excited to be able to stock. The shop sells bread from three different bakers, two local & one city based French bakery. We have frozen goods, take-home meals, dim sum & yarra valley pasta and pastry. The shelves are laden with a huge range of dry goods & pantry items for the everyday and most avid cook. We stock Yarra Valley wines & craft beer. K&B has a beautiful range of homewares, linens, hand-made ceramics, wooden boards, cook books, French cutlery & knives.
